How I Create a Modern Muse Painting

Every painting begins long before the first brushstroke touches the canvas.

The Modern Muse Collection is inspired by a lifetime of travel, observation and imagination. Having visited more than 120 countries, I have been fortunate to experience different cultures, cities, landscapes and stories that continue to influence my artistic vision.

When creating a Modern Muse painting, I usually begin with an idea rather than a photograph. Sometimes it is a memory from Venice. Other times it may be a detail from Paris, New York, Málaga or another place that left a lasting impression on me.

The muse herself represents contemporary femininity, confidence, elegance and curiosity. She is not intended to portray a specific person. Instead, she becomes a symbol of possibility, independence and personal expression.

Once the concept is clear, I begin developing the composition. I carefully consider the balance between figure, colour, symbolism and atmosphere. Elements such as gold accents, architectural references, flowers and meaningful objects are often incorporated to enrich the visual story.

Painting is a process of layers. Each stage adds depth, texture and emotion to the artwork. Some areas evolve quickly, while others require patience and multiple revisions before they feel complete.

One of the defining characteristics of the Modern Muse Collection is the connection between reality and imagination. Real places often merge with symbolic elements to create a world that feels both familiar and dreamlike.

Gold frequently appears throughout my work because it symbolizes value, light and transformation. It also creates a timeless quality that connects contemporary themes with artistic traditions that have inspired creators for centuries.

Every Modern Muse painting is ultimately an invitation. An invitation to slow down, observe, dream and discover a story that may be different for every viewer.
